One of the masterpieces of this "wait" is to allow Assad to climb up on his dead horse, and take off, or up, the GOLAN.  While the God of Irony has allowed Little Green Footballs to give a direct hit to Reuter's credibility.  Nothing interferred with the fakery of the GREEN HELMET GUY. So, in a sense Olmert and Peretz won't get hurt.  While the Israeli pilots can rest a bit.  Before taking off.   The better question would be "why does Assad hesitate?"  His Viagra hasn't kicked in, yet?

It is up to the voters, and that is how it should be. There is none of this impeachment mania that we can see in the USA thankfully in Israel, that is unhealthy I think, but failure to produce often leads to a dissolution of government under a 'no confidence' motion. Now  I finally realize why Jews put more emphasis on a person's death day than birth day. Not until the last minute can someone judge a person's accomplishments. Peres should be denied a grave all together!
